Introduction

Delcon solid state interface relays are being extensively used by GE Grid Solutions to provide reliable switching in their HVDC power network control equipment.

Main selection reasons

GE Grid Solutions' DC link system allows the interconnection of two asynchronous AC networks at different operating frequencies. This is typically used to share power between different countries or regions and recent projects have been successfully completed in South America, India and the Middle East. The equipment operates in an environment that is surrounded by high voltage power lines where signal cables are subject to extremely high levels of noise and interference. The relays are required to provide an interface between the control system and the field signal connections and AREVA needed a solution that could operate reliably under these harsh conditions. Delcon relays were selected because of their unique circuit design: With pulse transformer technology and multi-layer interface suppression they passed all required test specifications.
